SE1 Shifting involving more fingers
1m 23s
Practicing Shifts Between Two Fingers
To improve shifts between two fingers, practice each part of the movement separately.
Don’t only practice the full shift—focus on what each finger does, both actively and passively.
For example, shifting from first to third finger:
practice the full movement…
then the starting finger alone…
and the arriving finger alone.
This helps you understand the distance more clearly.
If there’s a string change, practice the shift first on one string, then add the crossing separately.
Breaking the movement into smaller steps makes your shifts more accurate, controlled, and reliable.
